Lara Casey, who strongly believes in Making Things Happen, posted on IG about starting fresh in May. We don't have to wait until January to turn a new leaf and accomplish goals. The first of the month represents a new start. I like to look at the new month as a blank canvas. A time to try again at a friendship, organize a closet, or brush the dust off of a book and crack it open. For the 50th time. I made
a list of areas that I would like to revisit and some that simply need a fresh start for the month of May.
May Goals:
Finish “Where We Belong” by Emily Giffin-
I own and have read all of Giffin’s
books and this by far has been the slowest one for me. I don’t know if it’s because
the topic is not of interest or if the back and forth of the narrators drives
me insane. Thought it’s been a year since I’ve started, yes, a year, I refuse
to move on to any of the new books calling my name on my shelf. I HAVE to
finish it. Is that a sign of OCD?
Cookies and Convo-
Last Sunday we
tried something new. Before putting the kids to bed we poured some milk and
baked some cookies. We turned off the t.v. and put away our phones. Everyone
had to share 2 compliments and 1 concern about someone or something pertaining
to our family. I would like to try this for the entire month.
Attend a Holy Yoga Class-
I haven’t been since the retreat because
of my schedule and I live half an hour away from where most of the classes are
located. I plan on attending at least one class this month.
In four days we will have been in our
home for a year. It’s about time that our address was updated with everyone.
Penny Jar Date Night-
I want to plan a creative/inexpensive
date night for me and The Hubster. Something fun. Something he won’t expect. I’m
thinking maybe along the ideas of a theme related to his interests. It seems to
ALWAYS be about me, so it’ll be nice to validate my boo thang and tap into his
love language.
This may be the most difficult goal for me. It requires planning and consistency. Words that aren’t in my vocabulary often. I really need to buckle down and organize our finances. I plan to start with our food. This month I’m going to try and plan our meals, cut a few coupons (not extremely), and stick to our budget. If this goal is only a success for one of the weeks, that would still be a victory in this household.
I’m working on a small literacy event for this
summer. I need to pray about it, punch fear in the face, and take the first step.
