Brave Enough to Celebrate

Here's the thing. We have this baby. She was born 3 days after Christmas.

In order to validate her birthday and celebrate her in a grand way, we decided to have a small, intimate celebration on her birthday with just our crew and celebrate with  others on her half birthday (June 28). We find that our  family and friends appreciate having an opportunity to celebrate with us and not having to alter plans so close to Christmas.

Well, here's the other thing. We have another kid. And she needs to be celebrated too. So on her half birthday, we have a small, intimate celebration.

Today we only went to school for 'half' the day and spent the other half together. We had a picnic and took a walk in Charleston. We then went to Chuck E. Cheese and played some games. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and had tons of fun running around shooting huge spiders and trying to hit the jackpot. 345 tickets. Boom.

Celebrating doesn't have to be pricey. Celebrating means basking in the moment and expressing gratitude for constant gifts. Even the smallest of them.

Celebrate a test grade. Celebrate an almost goal. Celebrate forgiveness. Celebrate a loose tooth. Celebrate a new friend.

We've been known to celebrate 'everything' and we believe that's okay. Life can get pretty boring if you wait for the huge 'aha!' moments. If we weren't brave enough to peer through the clouds to find that single ray of sunshine and dance like crazy when we did, how else would we know we were blessed?

  1. Celebration: I like this idea. Not having to wait until something big happens to celebrate but to celebrate all things great and small. You also get so many things to look forward too.
